Senior Cloud Engineer

Salary: $74,200–$148,230 per year. Actual compensation depends on skills, experience, qualifications, degrees, certifications, work arrangements, and geographic location.

What you will do

• Design, implement, and operate scalable infrastructure across AWS, Azure, and other cloud providers, building foundational identity, networking, logging, monitoring, compute, storage, and security services.
• Develop and maintain reusable IaC modules and standardized patterns with Terraform, Ansible, and Bicep, including code reviews, documentation, versioning, and validation.
• Build Python, PowerShell, and Bash automation workflows to reduce manual operational work and improve reliability.
• Own reliability outcomes, lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis, and improve runbooks, monitoring, alerting, support models, and operational readiness.
• Implement security, compliance, backup, recovery, resilience, patching, and vulnerability-management guardrails in collaboration with Security and Risk.
• Translate requirements into technical designs and roadmaps, mentor engineers through pairing and reviews, and influence cross-team cloud patterns and decisions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• 5+ years of experience in cloud engineering, infrastructure engineering, platform engineering, or related roles.
• Hands-on engineering depth in at least two major cloud providers: AWS, Azure, GCP, or OCI.
• Strong IaC experience, including reusable module development and pattern standardization; Terraform preferred and/or Ansible.
• Strong scripting and automation experience with Python, PowerShell, Bash, or equivalent.
• Experience implementing or significantly improving CI/CD practices for infrastructure delivery.
• Strong operational ownership, including incident response, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and preventative remediation.
• Deep knowledge of multi-cloud design and operations, foundational cloud services, operational excellence, lifecycle management, security and compliance patterns, and audit readiness.
• Ability to engineer and operate cloud services end-to-end, improve performance and cost efficiency, enforce tagging and cost allocation practices, translate business requirements into technical designs, and drive ambiguous work to clarity.
• Ability to mentor engineers and influence cross-team patterns through pairing, code reviews, and knowledge sharing.

Nice to have

• Two or more of the following certifications: AWS Solutions Architect – Professional, Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Google Professional Cloud Architect, or Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Architect Professional.
• Experience with container platforms and orchestration.
• Experience with cloud governance and guardrails such as Azure Policy, AWS Organizations controls, and GCP organization policies.
• Experience with centralized logging and security monitoring integrations, including SIEM.
• Experience in regulated environments and audit readiness involving SOC, HIPAA, or CMMC.
• Experience with multi-region patterns, shared-services networking, and private connectivity.
