Senior Data Engineer (Azure)

Location: Nationwide remote within the United States (US99)

What you will do

• Design, build, and operate batch and streaming data pipelines on modern cloud data platforms.
• Develop ETL/ELT processes with SQL, Python, and PySpark, including error handling, monitoring, and cost awareness.
• Implement layered or medallion data architectures and analytics-ready data models for BI and AI workloads.
• Partner with analysts, data scientists, platform teams, and business stakeholders to deliver trusted production-grade data assets.
• Support data and AI governance through cataloging, lineage, data quality, access control, metadata management, and auditability.
• Implement CI/CD, infrastructure as code, environment promotion paths, and AI-enabled automation for platform and governance workflows.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of production experience in data engineering or data platform engineering.
• Hands-on experience with SQL, Python, and PySpark.
• Experience with at least one major cloud or data platform, such as Azure, AWS, Databricks, or an equivalent platform.
• Experience with Git-based development and CI/CD practices.
• Working knowledge of data governance concepts, including cataloging, lineage, data quality, or access control.
• Ability to work remotely from within the United States.

Nice to have

• Exposure to Microsoft Purview or comparable data governance platforms.
• Experience with AI agents, LLM-based automation, intelligent assistants, or operational workflow automation.
• Experience embedding governance controls into DevOps workflows or developing a policy-as-code mindset.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric or Databricks-centric architectures.
