Freelance GitLab / DevOps Engineer (SaaS)

Location: Ghent, Belgium; hybrid remote work with flexible working hours

What you will do

• Audit the existing delivery pipeline and define a performance improvement plan.
• Optimize GitLab CI/CD through caching, parallelization, DAG optimization, runner strategy, and test splitting.
• Improve Kubernetes deployments, reliability, scaling, and troubleshooting in production.
• Optimize Docker images and build performance across the cloud-native stack.
• Implement monitoring, alerting, incident response, and release reliability improvements.
• Own infrastructure optimization end-to-end, including measurement, rollout, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• 5+ years of DevOps, SRE, or platform engineering experience in production SaaS environments.
• Deep expertise in GitLab CI/CD and a track record of significantly reducing pipeline duration.
• Strong production experience with Kubernetes, GCP, Docker, and Linux.
• Hands-on experience writing and maintaining Bash automation scripts.
• Experience supporting TypeScript and Python development environments.
• Understanding of infrastructure as code, reproducible environments, production deployments, monitoring, and incident response.
