Senior Data Scientist (AI)

Location: Remote in the US initially; transitions to hybrid in Raleigh, North Carolina, with relocation required.

What you will do

• Set the AI vision and roadmap for an agentic content platform.
• Lead development of shared agents, reusable platform capabilities, and agent-based workflows.
• Design and oversee production-grade AI systems focused on accuracy, reliability, scalability, and human oversight.
• Build evaluation science capabilities, including offline evaluation frameworks, automated benchmarking pipelines, and human-in-the-loop feedback systems.
• Partner with Product, Engineering, Architecture, Design, and other business functions to integrate AI at scale.
• Build, mentor, and manage a high-performing data science team while overseeing planning, budgets, forecasting, and resourcing.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in data science, machine learning, or applied AI.
• 4+ years of direct or indirect leadership experience.
• Experience designing, architecting, and implementing an agentic RAG-based system.
• Proficiency with Python and ML/LLM tooling such as LangChain, LangGraph, TensorFlow, PyTorch, and prompt-tuning techniques.
• Experience with multi-agent or orchestrated LLM systems, large-scale structured and unstructured data, data pipelines, event-driven architectures, and cloud infrastructure.
• Strong communication skills for explaining complex technical concepts to business partners in clear, non-technical language.

Nice to have

• Experience with vector databases, knowledge graphs, and hybrid retrieval architectures.
• Knowledge of containerization, CI/CD, RESTful API design, and model serving tools.
• Familiarity with LLM observability, tracing, evaluation harnesses, and LLM-as-judge or human-review pipelines.
• Experience with AI coding assistants such as GitHub Copilot.
