Staff Data Scientist (Machine Learning)

Annual salary: $143,000–$286,000, plus performance-based bonuses and possible stock compensation.

What you will do

• Define success metrics, measurement strategies, and opportunity assessments for discovery features and recommendation algorithms.
• Analyze clickstream data, user logs, customer engagement, funnels, cohorts, attribution, and retention across discovery pages.
• Design and evaluate large-scale A/B tests using power analysis, guardrail metrics, quasi-experimental methods, and causal inference.
• Use SQL across BigQuery, Hive, and Spark, and build reproducible analytical pipelines with Python and PySpark.
• Apply machine learning concepts, data mining, and feature diagnostics to understand product and model performance.
• Translate analytical findings into product recommendations and influence Product, Engineering, Business, UX, and Data Science partners.

Requirements

• Eligible degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent analytics experience.
• At least 6 years of experience in analytics or a related field; preferred profiles include 8+ years of product analytics, data science, applied analytics, or experimentation experience.
• Expert-level SQL and strong Python programming skills.
• Hands-on experience designing and analyzing large-scale A/B tests.
• Knowledge of machine learning model concepts and evaluation techniques.
• Strong communication, analytical storytelling, stakeholder management, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with optimization models, open-source frameworks such as scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or Torch, and assessments in Python, Spark, Scala, or R.
• PhD or master's degree in machine learning, computer science, information technology, operations research, statistics, applied mathematics, econometrics, business administration, or information systems.
• Knowledge of WCAG 2.2 AA, assistive technologies, and digital accessibility practices.
