TL;DR
Analytical Chemist (Polymer Science) (LC/GC, MS, SQL): Developing and validating analytical methods and data workflows for polymer research, product development, and regulatory programs with an accent on chromatography, mass spectrometry, and large-scale scientific data analysis. Focus on building high-throughput screening and data-driven polymer design tools, maintaining laboratory instrumentation, and solving complex analytical challenges across R&D projects.

Location: Dublin, Ohio, United States; onsite laboratory role with frequent travel during the first few years

What you will do

  • Develop and validate analytical and quality control methods, including liquid chromatography methods.
  • Perform and interpret analyses using LC, GC, elemental analysis, IR, GPC, and mass spectrometry.
  • Troubleshoot, calibrate, maintain, and repair laboratory instrumentation.
  • Support product development and advanced materials research with R&D scientists and chemists.
  • Manage analytical databases, structure and query data with SQL, and integrate workflows through LIMS and electronic lab notebooks.
  • Develop high-throughput screening and data-driven polymer design tools, analyze large datasets, and communicate technical findings.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree or higher in Chemistry, Polymer Science, or a related scientific field.
  • At least 2 years of hands-on laboratory experience in analytical chemistry.
  • Strong foundation in mathematics, including advanced algebra and statistical methods.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel or equivalent tools.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects independently.
  • Ability to work onsite in Dublin, Ohio, and travel frequently during the first few years.

Nice to have

  • Experience with Python, SQL, R, Dotmatics, scientific databases, LIMS, or electronic lab notebooks.
  • Experience interpreting mass spectrometry data across material types.
  • Knowledge of machine learning, multivariate analysis, and predictive modeling.
  • Experience leading or supporting cross-functional R&D initiatives.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and scientific communication skills.
