Deputy General Counsel, Head of Americas Legal (Crypto)

Location: Hybrid role in New York, United States, or San Jose, California, United States

Salary: $250,444–$360,639 per year, plus potential performance bonus, long-term incentives, and benefits.

What you will do

• Develop and advance regulatory strategy across the United States and the Americas.
• Build relationships with regulators and act as a key contact for regulators and business counterparties.
• Advise senior executives and business leaders on regulatory developments, legal risk, and growth opportunities.
• Lead and coordinate attorneys supporting the US and broader Americas businesses.
• Drive licensing initiatives and strategic legal projects under expedited timelines.
• Coordinate with Compliance, Risk, Operations, Finance, and other functions.

Requirements

• Membership with a US state bar or equivalent.
• 12+ years of regulatory experience involving financial services laws and regulations in a highly regulated environment.
• Experience advising on cross-jurisdictional legal and regulatory matters, preferably in financial services or crypto.
• Supervisory experience, including managing other attorneys.
• Experience making strategic recommendations to senior management and navigating legal ambiguity.
• Strong communication, leadership, judgment, organization, and independent working skills.

Nice to have

• Expertise in US securities laws and regulations.
• Prior in-house experience at a financial services or crypto firm.
• Experience advising on blockchain-related laws and regulations.
