Set Builder

Location: London, England, United Kingdom. Workplace: On-site, with Smart Working allowing up to 40% from home. After 12 months, working from abroad is available for up to 90 days per year.

What you will do

• Lead freelance set-build teams and deliver studio sets and prototypes on time, within budget and to creative briefs.
• Construct, maintain, redecorate and dismantle full room sets for photography, film and content production.
• Perform joinery, carpentry, decorating, tiling, flooring, wallpaper hanging and furniture construction.
• Select materials, advise on technical build solutions, and manage workshop tools, equipment, inventory and consumable spend.
• Collaborate with creative, production and studio teams, providing progress updates throughout the build process.
• Train and supervise freelance set builders while championing workshop and studio health and safety.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of set construction experience in photography, film, television, theatre or a related environment.
• Strong carpentry and joinery skills, with experience in plastering, painting, decorating, colour mixing, flooring, wall treatments and bespoke set features.
• Experience interpreting creative briefs and delivering practical builds.
• Confident and safe use of workshop and construction tools, including panel saw, chop saw and rip saw operation.
• Carpentry qualification or equivalent practical experience, plus knowledge of workshop and construction health and safety procedures.
• Strong organisation, communication, stakeholder management and freelance team coordination skills.
