Staff Product Engineer (SaaS)

Location: Fully remote from Europe, with a preference for CET ±3 hours. Candidates based in Russia or Belarus are not considered.

A profitable, bootstrapped product company building a web-based B2B2C SaaS practice management platform for accounting firms and their clients worldwide.

What you will do

• Own the architecture and technical direction of a product domain, making long-term system and integration decisions.
• Work with product managers to explore hypotheses, challenge requirements, and deliver business-focused solutions.
• Break initiatives into independently shippable stages and deliver features end-to-end across backend and frontend.
• Design reliable multi-tenant and distributed systems with strong consistency, idempotency, partial-failure handling, and data integrity.
• Test your own work, write automated tests, and remain accountable for production stability without a separate QA function.
• Raise engineering standards through design reviews, pairing, feedback, and improvements to development practices.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software engineering experience, including at least senior-level work.
• Full-stack engineering skills with deeper backend expertise and solid system design experience.
• Experience leading product delivery from task breakdown through production release.
• 3+ years owning production systems where correctness had financial or legal consequences, including live data model changes and structural incident fixes.
• Hands-on experience with distributed systems and multi-tenant SaaS, plus a strong ownership and product mindset.
• Fluent English is required; Russian is an advantage because many teammates are Russian-speaking.

Nice to have

• Practical experience with domain-driven design and teaching it to other engineers.
• Staff- or architect-level ownership of a domain maintained by several teams.
• Experience making AI coding agents effective on production codebases.
