Senior Database Administrator (ClickHouse)

Location: Remote, Serbia. Relocation support is available to hubs in Armenia, Georgia, Serbia, Portugal, Poland, and Spain.

What you will do

• Own the reliability, performance, security, and cost efficiency of production ClickHouse clusters running on Kubernetes and managed services.
• Design standardized architecture and tooling for dozens of multi-node clusters.
• Automate provisioning, configuration, scaling, upgrades, migrations, and routine database operations as code.
• Build monitoring and alerting, manage backups and disaster recovery, and regularly test restores.
• Support developers, DevOps engineers, DBAs, and engineering leadership with schema design, data ingestion, and query performance.
• Respond to production incidents, lead database root-cause analysis, maintain runbooks, and share operational knowledge.

Requirements

• Deep production DBA experience with ClickHouse, including storage, merges, replication, querying, strong SQL, analytical query optimization, and schema design.
• Experience designing automation for large database fleets and operating stateful workloads on Kubernetes in production.
• Production experience with a Kubernetes database operator and hands-on cloud infrastructure experience with a major provider.
• Experience with upgrades, backup and restore, and large-scale data migrations with zero or minimal downtime.
• Strong troubleshooting skills across queries, schemas, Kubernetes, Linux, storage, and networking.
• Experience with observability, database security, infrastructure as code, and scripting or programming for automation.

Nice to have

• Contributions to the source code of a Kubernetes database operator.
• Practical use of AI tools for database observability or operational automation.
• Experience in highly regulated environments.
• Kubernetes or cloud certifications.
