Respiratory Care Practitioner I (PFT)

Location: 251 E Huron St, Chicago, IL 60611, USA; onsite, full-time, day shift

Salary: USD 38.50–53.90 per hour. A $20,000 sign-on bonus is offered subject to eligibility.

What you will do

• Coordinate and perform prescribed pulmonary function tests according to physician orders and ATS guidelines, including spirometry, lung volumes, DLCO, methacholine challenges, respiratory muscle testing, ABG, and six-minute walk tests.
• Assess patients, identify contraindications, provide test instructions, and educate patients and families about respiratory disease management and support resources.
• Perform equipment checks and calibration, verify biological controls, monitor equipment performance, track quality indicators, and coordinate maintenance and service calls.
• Deliver respiratory therapies across adult medical-surgical, emergency, and critical care areas; assess patient responses and adjust treatment frequencies as appropriate.
• Respond to clinical emergencies, communicate patient conditions, participate in multidisciplinary rounds, and collaborate with the healthcare team.
• Precept students and promote teamwork, cooperation, and professional standards.

Requirements

• CPFT or RPFT certification.
• Graduation from an accredited respiratory therapy program.
• CRT or RRT certification.
• Active or pending Illinois Respiratory Care License required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Work onsite in Chicago, Illinois, USA.
