Client Office Phlebotomist Float (Phlebotomy)

Location: Various client sites in and around McHenry, Illinois; travel to additional sites when needed

Salary: $20.25–$27.34 per hour

What you will do

• Perform phlebotomy and other laboratory specimen collections for infant, adult, geriatric, and wheelchair-bound patients.
• Provide post-phlebotomy care, identify medical assistance needs, and follow patient-safety procedures.
• Label, process, transfer, and track specimens, orders, results, requisitions, and laboratory documentation.
• Request physician orders, enter laboratory tests into computer systems, and communicate timed draws, results, and issues to client office staff.
• Monitor refrigerator temperatures, quality-control records, equipment, corrective actions, and specimen recollection rates.
• Travel between client sites, prioritize multiple tasks, complete clerical duties, and collaborate with laboratory and physician teams.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Phlebotomy certification through a nationally recognized organization, training from a phlebotomy school or medical institution, or at least one year of healthcare phlebotomy experience.
• Ability to work full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., plus two weekends per month.
• Ability to drive to client sites in the McHenry area and surrounding suburbs, with flexibility to work earlier or later hours.
• Ability to collect specimens from a broad range of patient types and maintain competency for age-related responsibilities.
• Valid driver's license and auto insurance are preferred; experience with specimen processing, centrifuges, medical EMR systems, and medical terminology is also preferred.
