Machine Learning Scientist I (AI)

Location: Toronto, Canada; hybrid schedule with 3 days in the office Tuesday–Thursday and 2 remote days Monday and Friday

Annual base pay: CAD 132,440–145,684. A separate salary range of $132,500–150,700 per year is also listed.

What you will do

• Own the data science and machine learning lifecycle from conception and prototyping through testing, deployment, measurement, and maintenance.
• Develop and scale machine learning methods and quantitative models for core business problems.
• Integrate algorithmic solutions into technical platforms and improve customer, supplier, and employee experiences.
• Analyze large datasets to uncover actionable insights and guide business decisions.
• Collaborate with ML scientists, software engineers, and business teams to build maintainable, scalable, and debuggable solutions.
• Pilot open-source tools and pursue scientific publications based on relevant research results.

Requirements

• Hybrid work in Toronto, Canada, with three days per week in the office.
• 1–3 years of transferable corporate experience, including internships or co-op experience.
• Master’s degree in a quantitative field, or a bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field plus at least one year of experience.
• Proficiency in a structured programming language such as Python.
• Experience with data science tools including PyTorch or TensorFlow, GitHub, PySpark, Docker, SQL, and GCP.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex AI concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of supervised and unsupervised learning, regression, recommendation systems, reinforcement learning, and deep learning.
• Hands-on experience with large language models, GPT, BERT, Transformers, RAG, and LLM fine-tuning.
• Knowledge of NLP, data visualization, CI/CD, containerization, version control, and scalable data pipelines.
• Experience delivering machine learning projects from conception to production.
