Lead DataOps / MLOps (Databricks/Azure)

Location: Birmingham, Alabama or Nebraska; virtual/work from home

Salary: $124,500–$170,000 per year, plus potential annual incentive.

What you will do

• Own the DataOps/MLOps platform, operating model, automation, and tooling used to run production data pipelines and ML models.
• Build Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines for data pipelines and ML models, including testing, environment promotion, and auditable deployments.
• Standardize Dagster orchestration and operationalize dlt and dbt ingestion and transformation workflows.
• Build MLOps foundations with MLflow Model Registry and Databricks Model Serving, including monitoring, drift detection, and retraining triggers.
• Establish observability for data and models across freshness, quality, lineage, latency, drift, and cost.
• Govern the Databricks Lakehouse on Azure, manage infrastructure as code, lead incident practices, optimize costs, and automate compliance controls.

Requirements

• 8+ years in data, ML, platform engineering, SRE, or DevOps, including production data or ML systems.
• Technical leadership experience, including setting engineering standards, building automation, and mentoring engineers.
• Strong Azure DevOps CI/CD and Git workflow experience, with hands-on Dagster or equivalent orchestration and Databricks Lakehouse experience.
• Experience with dlt, dbt, MLflow, model serving, monitoring, drift detection, and retraining automation.
• Experience administering Microsoft Azure and implementing infrastructure as code with Terraform or an equivalent tool.
• Strong Python and SQL skills, observability and SRE practices, secure access control, and compliant handling of sensitive data; bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

Nice to have

• Financial services or insurance platform experience and familiarity with model risk and regulatory audits.
• Databricks administration, Unity Catalog, cluster policies, Mosaic AI, or Azure Machine Learning experience.
• Docker, Kubernetes, Azure AKS, Container Apps, or data-quality and observability tooling experience.
• Experience automating responsible-AI and model-governance controls, plus relevant Databricks or Microsoft Azure certifications.
