R&D Engineer Materials (Polymer Science)

Location: Milan, Italy — hybrid

Salary: Gross annual salary of at least €38,000, plus eligibility for an individual or collective variable incentive based on predetermined performance objectives.

What you will do

• Perform advanced polymer morphological characterization to assess the dispersion and distribution of polymeric and inorganic phases.
• Correlate polymer structure with the chemical, physical, rheological, and electrical properties of compounds.
• Conduct comparative analyses supporting material development, troubleshooting, and product optimization.
• Analyze, interpret, and model complex datasets generated through multiple techniques.
• Prepare technical reports, presentations, and recommendations for R&D and engineering teams.
• Support the development of optimized material formulations and manufacturing processes for cable products.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Polymer Science or Materials Science.
• Proven experience in polymer materials characterization and microscopy.
• Solid understanding of polymer physics, chemistry, and structure–property relationships.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, teamwork, critical-thinking, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
• Results-oriented and ambitious mindset.

Nice to have

• Experience with extrusion or injection molding processes.
