Design Researcher - 6 Months FTC (UX/Fintech): Leading qualitative and quantitative research strategies for financial products and services with an accent on usability testing, ethnographic research, accessibility, and customer-centred design. Focus on creating research roadmaps, synthesising evidence across sources, and influencing product, design, engineering, and senior business stakeholders.
Location: London or Manchester, UK. Hybrid working requires at least two days per week or 40% of working time at an office site.
Salary: £72,702–£80,780 in London or £61,344–£68,160 in Manchester.

What you will do
- Develop and lead research strategy for a key business, product, or service area within a multidisciplinary design, product, and engineering team.
- Manage research plans and roadmaps across the product development lifecycle, from generative to evaluative research.
- Conduct research to solve customer problems, identify opportunities, and guide product and service development.
- Apply qualitative and quantitative methods, including usability testing, concept testing, depth interviews, contextual enquiry, and diary studies.
- Synthesise research and data from multiple sources into actionable insights and compelling customer stories.
- Present findings, recommendations, and strategic implications to senior and executive-level stakeholders while promoting evidence-led decision-making.
Requirements
- Experience working with design and product teams to identify and prioritise research questions.
- Experience creating research roadmaps and plans that support short-term objectives and strategic direction.
- Deep qualitative research experience, including moderated or unmoderated usability testing, concept testing, and depth interviews.
- Experience combining qualitative and quantitative methods and collaborating with Service Design and other disciplines.
- Ability to communicate clearly, influence stakeholders, and build trust in research within developing research practices.
- Experience with accessibility research and/or research involving vulnerable customers.
Nice to have
- Expertise in accessibility, quantitative research, or user experience research.
- Ethnographic research experience such as contextual enquiry or diary studies.
