What you will do
- Develop, optimize, troubleshoot, and scale flow chemistry processes from laboratory through pilot or manufacturing scale.
- Evaluate batch and continuous-flow strategies for safety, scalability, efficiency, product quality, and manufacturability.
- Apply reaction engineering principles covering mixing, heat and mass transfer, residence time distribution, pressure control, and flow reactor design.
- Develop flow-based processes for challenging or hazardous chemistries, including exothermic reactions, unstable intermediates, organometallic reactions, azide chemistry, nitration, and hydrogenation.
- Support continuous-process scale-up, technology transfer to pilot or GMP manufacturing, throughput optimization, and operational risk assessment.
- Provide technical leadership, mentor scientists, engage customers and project teams, and promote flow chemistry adoption across development programs.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline, with at least 5 years of relevant industry experience.
- Extensive experience in flow chemistry process development and optimization.
- Hands-on experience with commercial flow chemistry platforms such as Vapourtec, Corning, Chemtrix, Syrris, Ehrfeld, or equivalent.
- Instrumental analytical skills with HPLC, GC and headspace, auto-titrator, mass spectrometer, NMR spectrometer, or related tools.
- Ability to analyze and report data, design experiments efficiently, manage projects, and communicate with customers.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with process analytical technologies and inline or online monitoring tools such as FTIR, Raman, UV, or HPLC.
