Experienced Diamond Driller and Geotechnical Technician (Geotechnical Drilling)

Location: Balcatta, Western Australia, Australia; onsite field work with trips generally lasting 2–5 days and occasional trips up to 2 weeks

Salary: A$60–A$70 per hour, depending on experience, plus additional incentives for away work.

What you will do

• Operate and maintain diamond drilling, auger, DPSH, percussive, CPT, and related equipment.
• Conduct geotechnical drilling using a Hanjin 8D rig, typically to depths of 15–25 metres, and perform Standard Penetration Tests and sampling.
• Identify and arrange site access, plant, equipment, water supplies, and site setup requirements.
• Operate track- and truck-mounted CPT rigs and other equipment, including backhoes and excavators where required.
• Act as the site contact for clients and ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain equipment while mentoring junior staff on site.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience working as a driller, not an offsider, or equivalent field-based experience.
• Strong mechanical and hydraulic repair skills, including the ability to complete minor repairs in the field.
• HR truck licence and confidence driving a larger rigid-axle 6x6 truck with trailers.
• Ability to lead or guide junior staff on site.
• White Card and a recognised Australian drilling certificate, or close to obtaining one.
• Current, unrestricted working rights in Australia required.

Nice to have

• Experience with Hanjin drilling rigs.
• Experience with diamond core drilling.
• Experience with CPT operations.
