Senior Analyst - Forensics & Response (Cybersecurity)

Location: New York, United States; fully in-person schedule up to 5 days a week

Base salary: $98,800–$196,000 annually

What you will do

• Lead digital forensic investigations and incident response across enterprise endpoints, servers, mobile devices, data platforms, internal systems, and cloud infrastructure.
• Identify, collect, image, and preserve physical and digital evidence in accordance with chain-of-custody protocols and legal standards.
• Analyze complex queries, data lineage, file-system artifacts, memory dumps, network traffic, and suspicious binaries to determine incident scope, root cause, and attacker techniques.
• Write detailed forensic reports covering procedures, timelines, findings, root-cause analysis, and remediation recommendations.
• Support internal investigations, eDiscovery requests, legal teams, law enforcement coordination, and compliance activities.
• Maintain and upgrade the digital forensics laboratory, including go-kits and remote acquisition equipment.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience in digital forensics and incident response, cybersecurity engineering, or data analytics.
• Strong knowledge of Windows, Linux, and macOS file systems, including NTFS, EXT4, and APFS, and related forensic artifacts.
• Strong report-writing skills suitable for executive-level stakeholders.
• Hands-on experience with evidence handling, chain of custody, and contemporaneous note-taking.
• Ability to work with engineers and technical operators during high-stakes incidents.
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in cybersecurity engineering, computer science, or digital forensics, or equivalent industry experience.

Nice to have

• Experience with complex SQL queries, data lineage, and data analysis.
• Moderate scripting proficiency in Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
• Exposure to OCI, AWS, Azure, or GCP, and data platforms such as Apache Hive, ClickHouse, RDS, and Redis.
• Experience in regulated environments, audits, evidence requests, and static or dynamic analysis of suspicious binaries.
• Relevant certifications such as GCIH, GCIA, GIME, GCFE, GCFA, or GREM.
