Security Engineer (AWS)

Location: Mexico; 100% remote. Candidates must have current legal authorization to work in Mexico. Visa or work permit sponsorship is not available.

What you will do

• Conduct security and vulnerability assessments for cloud-based and mobile workloads.
• Review security architectures and control implementations, monitor compliance, and develop Security Assessment Reports.
• Build, integrate, and tune security tooling and automated tests using AWS services such as Inspector, CloudTrail, CloudWatch, GuardDuty, Lambda, and Security Hub.
• Advise project and application teams on technical risks, threat models, security standards, and mitigation strategies.
• Design vulnerability scans and help secure cloud-native workloads, containers, and Kubernetes clusters at scale.
• Coordinate junior team members, deliver developer-focused security training, and support the SecOps on-call team with incident response.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or 2–4 years of experience in IT or security roles, including 3+ years with AWS or another public cloud.
• Security+ or another security certification.
• Experience with YAML, Terraform, CDK, scripting with Bash or PowerShell, and a modern programming language such as Python or Node.js.
• Experience with infrastructure as code, configuration management, CI/CD, SDLC collaboration, and AWS security monitoring and alerting tools.
• Knowledge of containers, ECS, EKS, Fargate, Kubernetes, cloud-native services, network and web protocols, and AWS security reference architectures.
• Familiarity with AI tools such as Claude and ChatGPT, along with strong written and verbal communication skills.

Nice to have

• AWS Security Specialty or Professional certification and/or Anthropic certification.
• Consulting or client-facing experience and experience explaining cybersecurity concepts or delivering training.
• Knowledge of RMF, FedRAMP, DoD CC SRG, NIST 800-53, or NIST 800-171.
• Datadog experience and participation in an on-call rotation.
