Trust, Risk & Safety Engineer (Fintech)

Location: Remote

Salary: $200,000–$250,000 base salary per year, plus equity and benefits

Phantom builds self-custody products that connect users to open financial markets, including perpetuals, prediction markets, tokenized assets, stablecoins, and crypto networks.

What you will do

• Build real-time fraud prevention and risk decisioning systems for ACH, debit cards, onramps, off-ramps, and other money movement products.
• Develop signals, models, and product interventions to detect scams, malicious wallets, transactions, applications, and user behavior.
• Build scalable KYC, sanctions screening, transaction monitoring, case management, and audit infrastructure.
• Create data pipelines and intelligence tools combining on-chain activity, product data, and third-party signals.
• Partner with product and engineering teams to embed safety safeguards into new features while preserving user experience.
• Develop internal investigation and response tools and help establish the technical foundations of a new Trust, Risk & Safety function.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 8+ years of full-time software engineering experience.
• Experience designing and operating reliable, data-intensive production systems.
• Ability to work across frontend, backend, APIs, data pipelines, and third-party integrations.
• Strong product judgment, technical ownership, and the ability to balance user experience, financial risk, and operational complexity.
• English language proficiency.

• Experience with fraud, risk, identity, KYC, AML, sanctions, payments, fintech, or blockchain systems.
