Location: Hong Kong; newsroom staff must work onsite at least three days per week

What you will do

• Cover major Asian financial-market stories from Hong Kong, including bond yields, exchange rates, IPOs, technology companies, currency interventions and commodity trading.
• Report spot news and write front-page coverage of significant market developments during the Asian trading day.
• Identify market anomalies and analyse significant financial-market phenomena.
• Interview investors, traders and other market participants about investment decisions, valuations and liquidity.
• Write news, analysis and potentially feature coverage for the FT website, newspaper and FT Weekend.
• Pitch ideas to editors in Hong Kong and London and collaborate with correspondents and colleagues worldwide.

Requirements

• Strong instinct for financial markets and the ability to turn market knowledge into compelling stories.
• Core reporting skills and the energy to speak with a wide range of market participants.
• Fluent, skilful English news writing with the ability to explain the importance of market movements clearly.
• Good communication skills, reliable delivery and effective collaboration with editors and international colleagues.
• Availability to work onsite in Hong Kong at least three days per week, subject to role requirements and review.

Nice to have

• Skills in Asian languages.
• Experience writing features or coverage for weekend publications.
