2027 Software Dev Engineer Intern - United Kingdom

Location: United Kingdom — London or Cambridge. Interns are expected to work in the office Monday-Friday, up to 40 hours per week, typically between 8am and 5pm.

What you will do

• Design, build, and operate innovative products and services with experienced cross-disciplinary teams.
• Break down complex and ambiguous problems into well-defined technical components.
• Develop scalable and reliable services, including systems with distributed-systems scope.
• Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and technical documentation.
• Use AI-powered development tools, critically validate generated code, and apply sound engineering judgment.
• Work with CI/CD practices and support monitoring, troubleshooting, on-call duties, and production issue resolution.

Requirements

• Enrolled in a Bachelor's degree or above in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field at the time of application.
• Knowledge of object-oriented design, operating systems, algorithms, data structures, and complexity analysis.
• Experience with at least one general-purpose programming language, such as Java, Python, C++, C#, Go, Rust, or TypeScript.
• At least one quarter, semester, or trimester of study remaining after the internship concludes.
• Ability to work in the office during hirify.global's workday without conflicts from classes or other employment.

Nice to have

• Technical internship experience.
• Experience with distributed or multi-tiered systems, algorithms, and relational databases.
• Experience with AWS or other cloud platforms, SQL and NoSQL databases, AI-assisted development tools, open-source projects, or version control systems.
• Ability to articulate technical challenges and solutions and work effectively with ambiguous problems.
