Internship - Analytical Chemistry (HPLC/LC-MS)

Location: Beerse, Antwerp, Belgium; on-site presence required

What you will do

• Analyze and purify newly synthesized small molecules and peptides for drug discovery programs.
• Use advanced HPLC, LC-MS, and automated purification platforms in laboratory activities.
• Explore methods to improve resolution in preparative chromatography.
• Investigate challenging analytical problems and propose alternative solutions after training.
• Work with scientists in the Discovery Chemistry department and contribute independently within the laboratory team.

Requirements

• Strong theoretical and practical background in analytical chemistry.
• Basic understanding of chromatography fundamentals.
• Motivation to learn and work both independently and as part of a scientific team.
• Fast-learning, independent, and critical-thinking abilities.
• Proficiency with common software packages such as Office 365 and SciFinder.
• Remain enrolled as a student throughout the 3–9 month internship and obtain agreement from the school to sign the standardized Johnson & Johnson Belgium internship agreement.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with reversed-phase LC-MS.
• Basic knowledge of MassLynx or other analytical data software.
