TL;DR
Senior Site Reliability Engineer (FedRAMP) (AWS/Kubernetes): Operating and securing a FedRAMP-authorized AWS GovCloud environment with an accent on continuous compliance, vulnerability remediation, infrastructure automation, and monitoring. Focus on maintaining CIS/STIG hardening, managing deployments and evidence, supporting audits, and solving reliability and incident-response challenges across the full stack.

Location: United States; all work must be performed from within the United States. US citizenship or lawful permanent residency and the ability to pass applicable background investigations are required. The role works asynchronously with a Switzerland-based SRE team across Central European Time.

Salary: $155,584–$199,012 base pay annually, plus potential equity and variable bonus eligibility.

What you will do

  • Own the FedRAMP-authorized environment’s availability, performance, security posture, and continuous compliance.
  • Build and maintain AWS GovCloud infrastructure and services within the FedRAMP authorization boundary.
  • Manage patching, vulnerability remediation, monthly scanning, POA&Ms, deviation requests, and compliance evidence.
  • Control deployments and configuration changes according to approved Configuration Management and Significant Change Request procedures.
  • Automate application deployment, patching, evidence collection, and operational activities while troubleshooting across network, operating system, and application layers.
  • Support audits, post-incident analysis, agency reporting, and periodic on-call coverage.

Requirements

  • US citizenship or lawful permanent residency, work authorization in the United States, and successful background investigation clearance are required.
  • Professional experience as an SRE, DevOps, or Cloud Engineer in a FedRAMP, FISMA, DoD IL, or similarly regulated environment.
  • Working knowledge of NIST SP 800-53 controls and the FedRAMP continuous monitoring process.
  • Strong hands-on Kubernetes and AWS experience, ideally AWS GovCloud.
  • Experience with vulnerability management tools such as Tenable/Nessus or Qualys, infrastructure as code with Terraform or CloudFormation, and CI/CD technologies such as Jenkins or GitHub Actions.
  • Knowledge of at least one programming language, such as Ruby, Python, or Go, plus experience using AI-enabled tools responsibly in regulated environments.

Nice to have

  • Experience maintaining a FedRAMP Authorization to Operate, including SSP contributions and control narratives.
  • Familiarity with STIG/CIS hardening automation, SIEM or log aggregation, and federal audit-log retention requirements.
  • Experience working with 3PAOs, agency ISSOs/ISSMs, or the FedRAMP PMO.
  • Relevant AWS, CISSP, Security+, or CKA certifications.
