Senior Database Administrator (PostgreSQL)

What you will do

• Design, deploy, and maintain PostgreSQL clusters in AWS using Infrastructure as Code.
• Automate database provisioning, configuration management, monitoring, and operational workflows.
• Perform database maintenance, optimize slow SQL queries, and improve workload efficiency and throughput.
• Build high-availability architectures and implement backup, point-in-time recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.
• Support and monitor 24/7 production systems, including incident response and root cause analysis.
• Collaborate with SRE, DevOps, and engineering teams on scalability, performance, and CI/CD integration.

Requirements

• At least 4 years of production PostgreSQL database administration experience.
• Strong knowledge of SQL query optimization, indexing, and PostgreSQL performance tuning.
• Experience designing highly available, fault-tolerant systems with minimal or zero downtime.
• Experience supporting mission-critical 24/7 systems and participating in on-call or incident response.
• Hands-on experience with AWS services including EC2, RDS, EBS, S3, and IAM.
• Knowledge of PostgreSQL replication, PITR, HA solutions such as Repmgr, Patroni, or ProxySQL, Infrastructure as Code with Terraform or Ansible, and Linux administration with Bash, Python, or Go.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with Prometheus, Loki, Grafana, or CloudWatch.
• Experience with ClickHouse or TimescaleDB.
• Experience building internal automation or self-healing tools for query analysis and database management.
