Research Manager - Outcomes and Assessment Validity

Location: Hybrid role based at the IB Global Centre in The Hague, Netherlands, or Cardiff, UK, with one day per week in the office. Relocation to the Netherlands is supported, including a relocation package and work permit sponsorship.

Salary: Netherlands: €75,439–€94,299 gross annually based on 40 hours per week, including an 8% holiday allowance. UK: £54,927–£68,659 gross annually based on 37.5 hours per week.

What you will do

• Formulate research questions with Assessment, Education, and Community Partnership & Development teams.
• Design and implement case studies, surveys, longitudinal studies, and experimental or quasi-experimental research.
• Conduct advanced statistical analyses of large IB and external education datasets, including regression, multilevel modelling, and propensity score matching.
• Develop long-term data analytics frameworks for assessment operational cycles.
• Interpret and present findings through reports, briefs, publications, and recommendations for assessment and programme improvement.
• Manage research projects and external research partners, contribute to evidence synthesis, and present findings to academic, professional, and educator audiences.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in educational assessment, education research, applied educational statistics, or a related field; PhD preferred.
• At least three years of experience in educational research, preferably in assessment research and design, educational measurement, or programme evaluation.
• Significant proficiency with statistical software such as R, SPSS, STATA, or Python.
• Experience managing and analysing large student assessment datasets, including longitudinal or hierarchical data.
• Extensive knowledge of assessment validity frameworks, psychometrics, test theory, research ethics, informed consent, and data privacy.
• Strong report-writing, critical analysis, communication, and cross-disciplinary collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with IB programmes or international education frameworks.
• Experience with digital assessment technologies, analytics, and dashboard design.
