Associate Site Reliability Engineer

Location: Melbourne, Australia; hybrid work with an average of 2 days per week in the local hirify.global office

What you will do

• Build, maintain, and enhance services with other engineers while following industry best practices.
• Work with product teams and users of SRE tooling to understand needs, develop solutions, and measure their impact.
• Improve infrastructure observability through dashboards, alerts, and documentation.
• Automate repetitive operational work and help engineers work more efficiently.
• Use AI coding agents, including Claude Code, and help evaluate their effectiveness.
• Collaborate through pair programming to build shared technical understanding.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in software engineering or a related STEM discipline, a completed coding bootcamp, or equivalent practical experience.
• Hands-on experience writing code in any language and the ability to read and debug unfamiliar languages.
• Exposure to at least one cloud provider; the infrastructure primarily uses AWS with a growing GCP footprint.
• Curiosity about system failures and the ability to investigate problems in depth.
• Clear communication, self-motivation, initiative, empathy, and willingness to learn.
