Distinguished Technologist, Private Cloud AI - Applied & Agentic AI

Location: Hybrid, with an average of 2 days per week in an HPE office

Salary: USD 179,500–358,500 in Colorado; USD 194,000–388,000 in Massachusetts; USD 194,000–412,500 in California; USD 170,000–412,500 in North Carolina and Texas per year. Variable incentives may also be offered.

What you will do

• Lead AI architecture and technical design workshops for applied and agentic AI in private and hybrid cloud environments.
• Define architectures covering models, runtimes, knowledge and semantic layers, security, governance, and observability.
• Evaluate partner technologies, develop total-cost and roadmap options, and drive architectural decisions for AI products and customer solutions.
• Build reusable AI components and agents and help engineering teams take proofs of concept into scalable production services.
• Optimize AI systems for performance, cost efficiency, reliability, and trustworthiness.
• Create technical content and mentor senior engineers and architects across engineering, applied science, and field organizations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field.
• At least 15 years of progressive technical leadership and architecture experience.
• At least 2 years designing and implementing production-scale agentic AI and generative AI solutions and shared AI platforms.
• At least 5 years designing, engineering, and operating large-scale AI/ML solutions on a major public cloud platform.
• Hands-on expertise with foundation models, LLMs, RAG pipelines, multi-agent systems, tool-using agents, knowledge graphs, model fine-tuning, distillation, and alignment.
• Strong knowledge of cloud-native architectures, containers, microservices, Kubernetes, service meshes, hybrid/private cloud, AI security, governance, and observability.
