Senior Data Engineer I (Python)

Location: Chicago, Illinois, United States; in-office days are expected.

Base salary in Illinois: $136,000–$153,000 per year, plus a discretionary bonus and total rewards package.

What you will do

• Design and implement data platform solutions from the infrastructure layer through the API.
• Build scalable data pipelines, reusable infrastructure services, frameworks, and self-service tools.
• Provision, deploy, monitor, and maintain AWS-managed and open-source data infrastructure.
• Conduct performance testing and engineering for reliable, scalable data workloads.
• Partner with Analytics, Data Science, Marketing, Engineering, and Business Analyst teams to define data storage and processing solutions.

Requirements

• Strong ability to design and implement high-quality software in Python.
• Experience using SQL and ETL scheduling tools such as Airflow, Luigi, or Prefect.
• Experience with infrastructure as code, including Terraform or comparable tools.
• Hands-on experience with multiple data platforms and tools, including technologies such as Kafka, Postgres, Redshift, S3, Spark, Trino, or Airbyte.
• Experience with Docker, continuous integration, Git, shell scripting, and deploying containerized software in Kubernetes or similar technologies.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States and must not require visa sponsorship now or in the future.

Nice to have

• Experience with message-driven or streaming architectures using Kafka, Spark, or Flink.
• Experience with Postgres, MySQL, Redshift, Presto, or other relational and MPP databases.
• Experience with Kotlin, Java, Scala, dbt Cloud, Airbyte, Hightouch, or modern AI tooling.
