Senior Manager, Solutions Engineering – State, Local, Educational (SLED) Small Cities (Drones): Leading a Solutions Engineering team that designs public safety drone programs, validates dock sites, and supports high-volume technical sales and deployments with an accent on autonomous flight, integrations, and regulatory compliance. Focus on building the operating model, driving technical wins, guiding CAD and dispatch integrations, and scaling BVLOS and dock-based operations.
Location: US Remote; approximately 30% travel required for customer engagements, field activities, deployments, team onsites, and company events.
Annual base salary: $172,000–$215,000 plus commission.

What you will do
- Lead, hire, onboard, coach, and retain the SLED Small Cities Solutions Engineering team.
- Set quality standards for demonstrations, trial plans, site assessments, deployments, and customer-facing documentation.
- Drive technical wins across a two-to-one coverage model and serve as the senior escalation point for critical pursuits and customer issues.
- Partner with Sales on pipeline, forecasting, account planning, quota strategy, and land-and-expand programs.
- Guide CAD, dispatch, video and evidence management, streaming, BVLOS, waivers, COAs, and docked-operation integrations.
- Translate customer feedback into product requirements and create reusable enablement content, reference architectures, and technical assets.
Requirements
- 5+ years of relevant technical experience, including customer-facing solutions, field, or applications engineering.
- 1+ years leading a technical team or serving as a technical lead with hiring and mentorship responsibility.
- Strong understanding of drone technology, Public Safety sUAS operations, Drone as First Responder concepts, dock-based remote operations, and regulatory compliance.
- Working knowledge of public safety technologies, including CAD, VMS, and related software platforms.
- Experience with technical hiring, onboarding, development, customer-facing communication, and sales collaboration.
- Ability to travel approximately 30% and lift up to 60 lbs unaided. FAA Part 107 certification within the first 60 days is strongly encouraged and may be required for certain positions.
Nice to have
- Public safety service as a sworn officer, firefighter, or agency UAS program lead.
- Experience launching Drone as First Responder programs and operating dock-based, remote, and BVLOS systems at scale.
- Knowledge of grant funding, cooperative purchasing, Salesforce, Palantir, Databricks, or equivalent platforms.
- Experience scaling a technical team during rapid growth.
