Regional Security Manager, EMEA

Location: Onsite at the Lisbon office, Portugal, 5 days a week; responsibility for security operations across Lisbon and Amsterdam offices and remote employees throughout EMEA.

What you will do

• Run and grow the European physical security program for Discord’s Lisbon and Amsterdam offices.
• Serve as the in-office security representative, supporting employees and visitors, securing events, conducting investigations, interviews, and training.
• Support security operations across EMEA, including events, travel, and executive protection.
• Coordinate incident response, lead exercises, create scenarios, and define training objectives.
• Detect, triage, investigate, and escalate threats to Discord, employees, and users.
• Monitor security systems and plan technical architecture covering access control, video management, system controls, and related products.

Requirements

• 5+ years of physical security experience, including corporate office security and security technology integration.
• 3+ years of people management experience.
• Experience with project management, RFPs, process improvement, change management, vendor relationships, budgets, forecasting, and contracts.
• Experience with access control and video management systems such as Brivo, Genetec, and HID.
• Strong communication, de-escalation, prioritization, multitasking, and emergency response skills.
• Fluency in English and another major European language; availability for on-call duties and occasional travel is required.

Nice to have

• ASIS CPP, APP, or equivalent certification.
• Knowledge of European law enforcement agencies and regulatory requirements, particularly in Portugal.
• Technology industry experience.
• Proficiency as a Discord user.
