Location: Hybrid, 2–3 days per week, based in Bar Harbor, ME; Farmington, CT; or New York, NY
Salary: $106,020–$153,729 based on total years of related experience

What you will do
- Develop and implement intellectual property portfolio strategies across JMCRS scientific disciplines.
- Review invention disclosures, conduct patent landscape searches, and recommend appropriate IP protection strategies.
- Draft, prosecute, maintain, and manage patent matters directly and with outside counsel.
- Partner with researchers, inventors, business development, and product teams on disclosures, technical data, publications, and IP risks.
- Conduct prior-art, patentability, clearance, and freedom-to-operate analyses.
- Support Bayh-Dole compliance, IP enforcement, employee training, reporting, and portfolio reviews.
Requirements
- Registration to practice before the USPTO is required.
- At least 3 years of patent-agent experience in-house or at an IP law firm, supporting global prosecution matters in life science and/or data science.
- MS or PhD in life science and/or data science preferred.
- BS in a relevant life or data science field may be considered with at least 4 years of applicable research and/or product development experience.
- Strong communication, writing, organization, project management, client-interface, and presentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and demonstrate intellectual curiosity.
Nice to have
- Experience with stage-gate and product development processes.
- Experience managing patent portfolios, outside counsel, or IP strategy in biomedical research.
