Senior Data Ops Engineer, Data Activation & Products - Activision

Location: Santa Monica, Los Angeles office or remote within the United States. The office follows an onsite schedule Monday through Thursday when selected.

Salary: $102,800–$190,204 annual base pay in the United States, plus potential incentive compensation.

What you will do

• Monitor service health, respond to alerts, and participate in incident response across cloud, Kubernetes, application, and data platform environments.
• Investigate reliability issues involving Kubernetes, networking, DNS, Databricks, Spark, orchestration systems, event systems, and dependent services.
• Build dashboards, alerting, runbooks, operational documentation, and observability for Databricks and Spark streaming workloads.
• Improve monitoring for Airflow/Astronomer DAGs, dbt jobs, data freshness, pipeline failures, event lag, and dead-letter queues.
• Develop scripts and automation that reduce repetitive operational work and improve environment hygiene.
• Partner with data, analytics, and software engineers on safer deployments, platform modernization, migrations, and corrective actions after incidents.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in SRE, DevOps, cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, software engineering, data platform operations, or related production-support roles.
• Hands-on experience supporting Kubernetes workloads, deployment systems, cloud infrastructure, or production applications.
• Familiarity with Linux, HTTP, DNS, containers, Kubernetes, Git workflows, and scripting in Bash, Python, or similar languages.
• Experience with monitoring, logs, metrics, dashboards, alerting, and incident management.
• Experience with event systems such as Kafka, Google Pub/Sub, Kinesis, or similar technologies.
• Strong troubleshooting, communication, and production-support skills, with an interest in data platforms and streaming workloads.

Nice to have

• Experience with Helm, ArgoCD, GitOps, CI/CD, Terraform, Databricks, Spark, Airflow, Astronomer, dbt, or lakehouse architectures.
• Experience with Grafana, Prometheus, Cloud Monitoring, Datadog, Splunk, or similar observability platforms.
• Exposure to data reliability concepts, SLOs, SLAs, error budgets, postmortems, and formal reliability practices.
