Senior Software Engineer (Data Engineering)

Location: New York, United States; hybrid working. The role allows working from almost anywhere for up to 90 days per year.

Salary: $206,000–$255,000 estimated annual base salary.

What you will do

• Write, ship, maintain, and support production data-engineering code.
• Architect and implement large-scale distributed batch and streaming data systems and pipelines.
• Drive technical decisions across data processing, orchestration, cloud-native tooling, and event-driven architecture.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, data science, blockchain, and intelligence teams to build customer-focused features.
• Improve platform reliability, observability, scalability, performance, and cost efficiency.
• Mentor engineers, conduct thoughtful peer reviews, and help shape the data-engineering roadmap.

Requirements

• Hands-on production experience with Scala and functional programming.
• Experience designing, building, and maintaining distributed data systems in cloud environments.
• Experience with Spark or Databricks and data modelling or workflow orchestration.
• Knowledge of AWS, GCP, or Azure and the ability to balance scalability, performance, and maintainability.
• Strong ownership, collaboration, communication, and engineering judgment.
• Hybrid availability in New York, United States is required for the role.

Nice to have

• Experience with stream processing frameworks and event-driven architecture.
• Infrastructure as Code experience with Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Experience with Docker or Kubernetes.
• Interest in AI-driven engineering tools, crypto, and blockchain technologies.
