TL;DR
Contract Flutter Engineer (Medtech): Building safety-critical Flutter interfaces for an embedded Linux medical technology product with an accent on real-time patient data, alarms, device supervision, and regulated quality processes. Focus on implementing high-frequency data visualizations, local TCP and FlatBuffers communication, formal testing, and traceable delivery across self-contained application areas.
Location: London, England, United Kingdom; hybrid, with 2 to 3 days onsite in Kings Cross

What you will do
- Build guided setup, patient identification, sensor lifecycle, monitoring, and embedded guidance workflows.
- Develop real-time metric displays, timeline graphs, baselines, motion indicators, historical visualisations, and clinical notation features.
- Implement prioritised alert views, silence controls, configurable limits, and status message panels.
- Create system boot, permissions, signal-loss, time-zone, pause, discharge, shutdown, service, and data export screens.
- Own a self-contained application area from design through merged, tested, and documented code.
- Collaborate with the Software Architect and engineers responsible for surrounding components.
Requirements
- Experience deploying Dart and Flutter interfaces on embedded Linux using flutter-auto, with fixed touchscreen layouts, virtual keypads, and systemd.
- Practical knowledge of flutter_bloc, Cubit, provider, sealed classes, pattern matching, and stream regulation.
- Experience building local TCP socket connections for size-prefixed FlatBuffers packets.
- Ability to create performant CustomPainter charts for high-frequency data streams with low memory allocation overhead.
- Experience with Flutter localisations, ARB files, timezone-aware rendering, and unit, widget, screenshot, and regression testing.
- Experience with continuous integration, peer reviews, inline documentation, and requirement mapping.
Nice to have
- Experience with medical technology or regulatory quality frameworks.
- Working knowledge of C++ for protocol definitions and service interfaces.
- Experience translating Figma designs and contributing to FMEA-based software risk evaluations.
