Backend Engineer (Go/Java)

Location: Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam; office-based

A Southeast Asian classifieds technology group operating a large recommerce platform in Vietnam with more than 10 million users and over 1 million resale listings each month.

What you will do

• Build, operate, and improve backend services and microservices serving tens of millions of users.
• Own features end to end, from design and implementation through rollout and production operation.
• Participate in design reviews, explain trade-offs, and incorporate technical feedback.
• Build AI-powered features with LLMs when they are appropriate for the problem.
• Improve service reliability and performance while reducing technical debt.
• Raise engineering quality through code reviews, testing, shared libraries, and tooling.

Requirements

• 3+ years of professional backend experience building and operating production services.
• Strong proficiency in at least one general-purpose language, including Go, Java, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, or Node.js.
• Sound software design judgment, including service boundaries, data modeling, design patterns, and pragmatic solution selection.
• Experience shipping AI-powered features to production and using AI agents with verification, security awareness, and ownership of generated code.
• Experience with at least two data systems such as PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Elasticsearch, Redis, Kafka, or Cassandra.
• Working knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, microservices, and event-driven architectures; a degree in engineering or computer science, or a competitive programming background.

Nice to have

• Strong working knowledge of Golang.
• Open-source contributions or involvement in technology communities.
