Senior Software Engineer, Backend

Location: Onsite in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia

What you will do

• Design, build, and optimize critical backend systems for the ride-hailing platform.
• Work with Product, Design, and Analytics teams to clarify requirements, evaluate trade-offs, and plan delivery.
• Collaborate with Android, iOS, backend, QA, and ML engineers to implement scalable technical solutions.
• Write reusable, scalable, and testable code and review engineering specifications and code.
• Handle on-call responsibilities, including triaging, debugging, mitigating, and fixing complex production issues.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to knowledge sharing and engineering quality.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience in distributed systems environments.
• Proficiency in at least one backend language, such as Go, C++, Python, or a similar language.
• Strong understanding of algorithms, data structures, and system design principles.
• Experience developing large-scale, high-throughput distributed systems.
• Knowledge of relational databases such as MySQL and PostgreSQL, NoSQL databases, and AWS cloud infrastructure, including auto-scaling and resource management.
