Location: Onsite in Kantvik, Kirkkonummi, Finland; occasional travel primarily within Europe.

What you will do
- Lead process development projects from laboratory concepts through pilot-scale implementation and reporting.
- Design, execute, analyze, and interpret laboratory and pilot plant experiments for chemical and biobased processes.
- Develop and optimize processes for biomolecules, biomaterials, polymers, particulate materials, and health-related products.
- Collaborate with R&D teams, manufacturing sites, external partners, and global project teams on scale-up and commercialization.
- Support technology transfers, manufacturing start-ups, process troubleshooting, plant optimization, and continuous improvement.
- Produce pilot-scale samples and provide technical guidance to laboratory and pilot plant personnel.
Requirements
- M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field with strong organic chemistry expertise.
- Several years of industrial experience in process development, chemical manufacturing, bioprocessing, pulp and paper, or a related field.
- Experience with organic synthesis, characterization, and functional modification of polymers and particulate materials.
- Willingness to work hands-on in laboratory, pilot plant, and industrial process environments.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, presentation, and mentoring skills.
- Strong English communication skills and willingness to work onsite in Finland are required. Proficiency with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and SAP is expected.
Nice to have
- Experience in polymer chemistry, cellulose modification, polysaccharides, hydrocolloids, polymerization, or sustainable materials.
- Experience with data analysis, modelling, carbohydrate structural characterization, linkage analysis, or derivatization techniques.
- Experience with external R&D collaborations or custom manufacturing operations.
