What you will do

  • Implement, execute, analyze, and report quantum error correction benchmark and demonstration experiments on superconducting quantum processors.
  • Develop features for the quantum computer control software stack with quantum physicists and software engineers.
  • Contribute to the development and evaluation of QEC protocols and decoding approaches for near-term quantum processors.
  • Model and analyze error processes in quantum circuits and hardware experiments.
  • Identify technology-stack requirements for QEC experimentation and improve related tools and workflows.
  • Coordinate experiments and results with experimental, theoretical, and software teams supporting the fault-tolerant quantum computing roadmap.

Requirements

  • Experience calibrating qubits and QPUs, preferably superconducting systems, beyond running gate-level workloads on cloud quantum computers.
  • Experience with quantum error correction experiments and data analysis, including familiarity with QEC literature.
  • Software engineering experience in Python, including environment management, testing, documentation, and version control.
  • Understanding of quantum information and QEC theory, decoding algorithms, and lattice-surgery-based approaches.
  • Experience modeling errors in quantum circuits or physical quantum hardware, plus familiarity with digital and analog quantum computer control hardware.
  • Strong verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to collaborate in a diverse, multidisciplinary team.

Nice to have

  • PhD in a relevant discipline.
  • Experience in experimental quantum computing research or development.
  • Experience with large-scale quantum processor experiments or similarly complex experimental systems.
