AI Infrastructure Architect - Senior Manager (AI) (AWS/AI platforms): Building governed AI operations infrastructure for model access, identity, networking, infrastructure as code, telemetry, and sandbox deployment with an accent on AWS architecture, control-plane design, and reusable platform patterns. Focus on implementing usage attribution and cost-management pipelines, secure agent and service mediation, and operational tooling for reliable enterprise AI workloads.
Location: Chicago, United States; flexible living locations across the US. Travel as needed.
Base salary: $175,000–$245,000 per year. Total estimated compensation including annual incentive compensation: $210,000–$294,000.

What you will do
- Lead the reference architecture for AI workloads, model access, agent execution, control-plane boundaries, and system integrations.
- Design and build governed AWS patterns covering Amazon Bedrock, identity, networking, logging, data flows, and production deployment.
- Implement registration, policy enforcement, quotas, usage tracking, attribution, audit reporting, and exception-handling capabilities.
- Build reusable infrastructure as code, deployment templates, automation, sandbox environments, service mediation, and operational tooling.
- Develop telemetry and data pipelines for token usage, user and project attribution, cost management, chargeback, and showback.
- Provide technical direction and mentorship, review designs and code, and collaborate with security, governance, knowledge, observability, and AI capability teams.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience designing and building production cloud, AI, developer, data, or distributed-systems platforms, including 4+ years with AWS or equivalent cloud infrastructure.
- Strong AWS architecture experience across identity, networking, logging, observability, infrastructure as code, security boundaries, and production operations.
- Hands-on engineering experience with a modern programming language and an infrastructure automation framework.
- Experience using AI tools for platform engineering, automation, code generation, code review, testing, documentation, or troubleshooting.
- Experience with APIs, service integration, secure deployment patterns, event-driven systems, or platform automation.
- Ability to translate business, governance, and risk requirements into secure, auditable, cost-visible, reliable, and reusable engineering patterns.
Nice to have
- Experience with Amazon Bedrock or equivalent enterprise model-access platforms.
- Experience with MCP or comparable governed tool and service mediation patterns.
- Experience with durable agentic AI orchestration, sandboxed execution, coding agents, secure agent runtimes, or developer workspaces.
- Experience with token and cost telemetry, usage attribution, chargeback, showback, or FinOps data pipelines.
- Experience with regulated or client-confidential workloads and mentoring engineers or leading technical workstreams.
