Vaccines Medical Affairs Scientist, Manager (Vaccines)

Location: Tokyo, Japan; the role combines head office and field responsibilities, typically ranging from 80% field and 20% head office activity to 80% head office and 20% field activity.

What you will do

• Serve as the medical and scientific point of contact for healthcare professionals, medical societies, regulators, academia, and other external stakeholders.
• Develop and execute local medical plans aligned with global strategies for inline and pipeline vaccines.
• Identify unmet medical needs, healthcare disparities, and data gaps, and support evidence-generation initiatives.
• Lead non-promotional scientific exchanges, advisory boards, educational seminars, medical materials development, and responses to unsolicited medical requests.
• Build long-term scientific relationships, maintain stakeholder maps, and provide customer insights to inform medical and product strategies.
• Collaborate with cross-functional and above-country teams while ensuring compliance with hirify.global policies, Japanese regulations, and safety-reporting requirements.

Requirements

• Four-year university degree and a master’s degree in life science, or a pharmacist, veterinarian, dentist, or MD qualification meeting the stated education requirements.
• Expert knowledge of medical and pharmaceutical topics in the assigned therapeutic area or products.
• Ability to communicate and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including healthcare professionals.
• Understanding of pharmaceutical-industry compliance, relevant laws and regulations, and appropriate product use.
• Experience in medical affairs, clinical development, or research is preferred; scientific publication experience is also preferred.
• Written and spoken Japanese and English are required for scientific interactions; a minimum TOEIC score of 730 is required.
