Senior Software Engineer, AI Tooling

Location: Austin, United States; hybrid work with office attendance generally required Monday through Thursday and up to one day per week of telecommuting

What you will do

• Design and implement secure, reliable AI-powered tools and platforms using large language models, retrieval-augmented generation, and Model Context Protocol.
• Architect AI tooling and pipelines, including retrieval, model orchestration, safety guardrails, backend integrations, data validation, anomaly detection, and automated quality gates.
• Develop Python-based services, performance testing, monitoring, metrics, and health endpoints to optimize reliability, latency, throughput, and cost.
• Own engineering epics and tasks, delegate work, conduct code and design reviews, and define coding and documentation standards.
• Mentor engineers through onboarding, training, structured curricula, and subject-matter expertise.
• Coordinate with architecture, platform, UI, product, data, and QA teams; lead incident triage, root-cause analysis, and roadmap planning.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science or a related field.
• At least 2 years of experience as a Software Engineer or in a related occupation.
• At least 1 year of experience building and integrating AI tooling with agents, Model Context Protocol or equivalent technologies, adapters, authentication, auditing, and lifecycle management.
• At least 1 year of experience with prompt and system evaluation, grounding, citations, hallucination mitigation, red-teaming, and A/B experimentation.
• At least 1 year of experience with user interface design, performance optimization, system design, architectural patterns, and code reviews.
• At least 1 year of experience with Python services, Linux, cloud-native stacks, concurrency and asynchronous I/O, and modern networking for AI workloads.
