Focus on leading architectural decisions, mitigating technical risks, integrating real-time and cloud-native capabilities, and guiding engineers across multiple teams.
Location: Hybrid position in Tucson, Arizona, USA

What you will do
- Define and guide the architecture of large-scale autonomous software platforms.
- Establish scalable, resilient, and maintainable architectures for current and future business needs.
- Translate strategic objectives into technical direction with engineering leaders, product management, and domain experts.
- Lead technical design reviews, architectural decisions, and cross-team consistency.
- Identify and mitigate technical risks while evaluating technologies, frameworks, and design patterns.
- Mentor engineers and technical leaders and influence long-term platform roadmaps.
Requirements
- 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, including system architecture and technical leadership.
- Production experience architecting large-scale distributed software systems.
- Strong expertise in software architecture, distributed systems, scalability, reliability, and performance engineering.
- Strong software development background with Java and modern development practices.
- Experience influencing technical direction across multiple teams and mentoring senior engineers or technical leaders.
- Strong communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Nice to have
- Experience with autonomous systems, robotics, industrial automation, or distributed control systems.
- Real-time software, cloud-native architectures, distributed platforms, networking, or distributed application troubleshooting.
- Experience in safety-critical or operationally critical environments.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience.
