Senior Manager, Medical Coding (Medical Oncology)

What you will do

• Oversee coding and charge capture specialists, coding pods, managers, and team leads while managing workloads against monthly goals.
• Review coding KPIs and benchmarks, adjust productivity metrics, and identify process improvement opportunities.
• Collaborate with RCM leadership, compliance teams, providers, and practice executives on documentation and charge capture issues.
• Design efficient workflows, develop templates and claim-scrubbing edits, and oversee the practice management claim rules engine.
• Investigate coding requirements for new procedures and drugs and serve as the escalation point for coding queries.
• Lead training, policy and procedure development, staff meetings, operational issue resolution, and month-end close reporting.

Requirements

• Professional coding certification required.
• Bachelor’s degree required; equivalent experience may substitute.
• At least 5 years of supervisory experience required.
• At least 6 years of coding experience preferred.
• Knowledge of medical oncology, radiation, and surgery coding is highly preferred.
• Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, insurance policies, CPT, ICD-9, HCPCS, anatomy, and medical terminology; willingness and ability to travel when necessary.
