Account Manager (Commercial Surety Insurance)

Location: Hartford, Connecticut, United States

Salary: $52,600–$86,800 annual base salary, plus eligibility for performance-based cash incentive awards.

What you will do

• Process pre-quote and post-bind underwriting activities for bond, specialty insurance, management liability, and operations accounts.
• Bill, assemble, distribute, book, and issue commercial surety bond products and related policy documents.
• Process new business, renewals, cancellations, mid-term changes, surety riders, joint ventures, co-sureties, and extended-time or warranty provisions.
• Manage final contract pricing, premium closeouts, overrun and underrun premiums, and deviated commission scales.
• Pull credit, GuideStar, Westlaw, ERISA, prospect, and delinquency reports; follow up with agencies on non-payments and past-due obligations.
• Support underwriting teams through lead distribution, solicitation setup, audits, QAP forms and action plans, and Polaris training for new underwriters.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate's degree or one year of work experience required; a bachelor's degree is preferred.
• Typically two or more years of experience in the insurance industry.
• Intermediate understanding of insurance terminology and underwriting instructions.
• Basic proficiency with Windows and Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Effective verbal, written, and listening communication skills, with an intermediate customer focus.

Nice to have

• Experience in surety insurance is strongly preferred.
