Software Engineer II, Solutions Engineering (Ruby on Rails)

Location: Remote, USA

Base salary: $128,000–$184,000 per year, depending on geographic zone, with an annual cash bonus and equity opportunities.

What you will do

• Design, build, and ship internal and integrated tooling that reduces repetitive manual work in file processing, migrations, eligibility, contracting, and billing.
• Own enhancements and moderate-complexity features across automations and integrations, collaborating with commercial, product, and engineering stakeholders.
• Investigate implementation escalations and production issues, identify root causes, and contribute fixes that prevent recurring problems.
• Build reusable solutions using team templates, standards, and API-driven workflow automation.
• Use AI-assisted development and modern automation to deliver reliable solutions efficiently.
• Participate in the on-call rotation, triage incidents, support members, and assist internal investigations.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of experience writing readable, tested, and efficient production code.
• Strong Ruby on Rails experience, or backend engineering experience in another language with the ability to ramp up quickly on Rails.
• Experience with PostgreSQL or another relational database, APIs, and integrations across service boundaries.
• Fluency with AI-assisted development, including thoughtful and quality-conscious use of AI coding assistants.
• Experience with workflow-automation platforms such as Tines, n8n, or similar, plus solid debugging, optimization, and SDLC skills.
• Ability to translate business needs into technical solutions and work effectively with unfamiliar codebases and system owners.

Nice to have

• Experience with React, Vue, or another modern front-end framework.
• Healthcare or other regulated, data-sensitive domain experience.
• Exposure to solutions engineering, implementation, or customer-facing technical work.
