Senior Packaging Engineer (Medical Devices)

Location: Irvine, California, United States; hybrid arrangement with four days onsite and one remote day per week. Some travel may be required.

Salary: $98,400–$147,600 USD annually, plus eligibility for the hirify.global Incentive Plan.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and implement packaging components, assemblies, and systems for medical devices.
• Lead packaging development from concept generation through commercialization and market release.
• Evaluate, source, test, and qualify packaging materials and components.
• Prepare design specifications, requirements, validation protocols, reports, and quality system records.
• Provide packaging expertise to research and development, quality, regulatory, manufacturing, supply chain, and operations teams.
• Support investigations, corrective actions, package validation, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

• At least 4 years of experience with a bachelor's degree, or at least 2 years of experience with an advanced degree.
• Experience supporting product development, packaging development, or manufacturing projects from concept through commercialization.
• Experience developing technical documentation, engineering specifications, validation activities, and quality system deliverables.
• Knowledge of packaging development principles, packaging materials, and packaging validation in a regulated environment.
• Unrestricted U.S. work authorization is required at hiring and throughout employment; visa sponsorship is not available for this Senior-level role.
• For bachelor's degrees earned outside the United States, the degree must satisfy the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A).

Nice to have

• Master's degree in Engineering, Packaging Engineering, Materials Science, Biomedical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Experience with medical device packaging, biomedical materials, packaging design procedures, FDA regulations, and ISO requirements.
• Experience leading cross-functional teams, managing technical projects, and driving continuous improvement.
