Principal Systems Engineer (Lead)

Location: Maidenhead, United Kingdom; onsite. Candidates must be willing and able to obtain and maintain DV security clearance. Applicants must be British citizens who have been resident in the UK for the past 5 years for SC clearance and 10 years for DV.

What you will do

• Lead the Systems Engineering discipline and own systems work packages, deliverables, quality, schedules, budgets, and technical commitments.
• Implement ISO 15288 systems engineering processes across the full development lifecycle.
• Develop technical solutions for complex engineering problems, including requirements, architectures, designs, risk mitigations, and implementation approaches.
• Coordinate with hardware, firmware, software architects, design authorities, project management, customers, and external suppliers.
• Plan and lead design reviews, technical documentation reviews, proposals, estimates, and customer acceptance activities.
• Act as Design Authority during the in-service phase and provide technical leadership, coaching, and line management to systems engineers.

Requirements

• Degree or equivalent qualification in engineering, mathematics, physics, or significant defense/aerospace industry experience.
• Significant experience in Systems Engineering, lifecycle models, development processes, requirements engineering, and compliant systems design.
• Experience implementing systems engineering lifecycles in accordance with ISO, IEEE, or IEC standards.
• Technical and line management experience leading systems engineers.
• Experience producing high-quality technical documentation and conducting formal technical reviews.
• Hands-on hardware, software, or firmware development experience, particularly in embedded environments.

Nice to have

• INCOSE ASEP or CSEP recognition.
• Experience as a technical Subject Matter Expert and developing new areas of expertise.
• Familiarity with NCSC security processes and associated security artefacts.
