Senior Software Engineer - Back End (Fulfillment)

Location: Onsite at the Bentonville, Arkansas office; not eligible for remote work. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship.

Salary: $90,000–$180,000 annual base salary, plus potential performance bonuses and stock compensation.

What you will do

• Own L2/L3 production support for online fulfillment systems covering order management, pickup, delivery, inventory, and last-mile workflows.
• Act as the technical escalation point for critical incidents, perform root cause analysis, and implement permanent fixes.
• Build monitoring, alerting, observability, automation tools, and scripts to prevent customer-impacting failures.
• Support high-availability systems, production releases, configuration changes, validation, and rapid recovery with low MTTR.
• Coordinate with product, engineering, and operations teams to improve fulfillment reliability, scalability, and customer experience.
• Maintain runbooks and support documentation, participate in 24/7 rotational on-call shifts, and contribute to architecture and reliability discussions.

Requirements

• U.S. work authorization without current or future visa sponsorship is required.
• 8–10+ years of software engineering experience, including production support, SRE, or DevOps environments.
• Strong coding and debugging skills in Java or Python, with experience fixing issues at the source-code level.
• Experience with Spring Boot, microservices, Azure, Docker, Kubernetes, Kafka, SQL databases, and NoSQL databases.
• Hands-on experience with incident management, root cause analysis, production troubleshooting, monitoring, logging, tracing, and alerting.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with 3 years of experience, or 5 years of software engineering experience.

Nice to have

• Experience with online fulfillment, retail, order lifecycle, inventory, dispatch optimization, or last-mile delivery systems.
• Knowledge of SRE principles, including SLIs, SLOs, error budgets, chaos engineering, or resilience testing.
• Master’s degree in a relevant field and experience with WCAG 2.2 AA, assistive technologies, and digital accessibility.
